    The faculty and staff of two Macoupin County school districts recently challenged each other to a friendly game of volleyball for charity resulting in a massive dose of goodwill, just in time for the holiday season.     On Wednesday, Dec. 6, in Staunton, Madison Communications sponsored the Community Hope Center’s Christmas Toy Drive once again this year. The new and unwrapped toys for girls and boys ages 0-12 were collected from the middle of Oct. through the first week of Dec.     On Nov. 29, 2023, the Staunton FFA joined 11 other schools in the Dairy Products CDE held at Carlinville High School. Members participated in various activities evaluating different types of cheese, milk defects, real vs. imitation dairy products, a dairy industry general knowledge exam, and completing a California Mastitis Test on unprocessed milk.     On Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, Macoupin County State’s Attorney, Jordan Garrison, announced that a former Staunton man has been sentenced to ten years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). A jury found him guilty of a Class one felony being one count of criminal sexual assault of a relative. Dillard J. Dehart, Jr. is currently 66 years old and was found guilty at a jury trial in front of Judge Joshua A. Meyer, who handed down the sentence.
