Kern

Helen Kern, 104, of Livingston, Ill., died at the Greenville Nursing and Rehab Center in Greenville, Ill., on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023. She was born May 19, 1919 in Livingston the daughter of the Late Joseph and Barbara (Skertich) Kostadin. She was married to Roy F. Kern for 46 years and he preceded her in death on March, 14, 1991. Her parents also preceded her in death.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Livingston and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. She was also a member of the Croatian Lodge of Benld, Ill.

She is preceded by one brother, Joseph R. Kostadin; and three sisters, Dorothy Banjovic, Rose Krusa, and Ann Kostadin. She is survived by two step-children, Patricia Durova of Niles, Ill. and Kenneth Kern of Des Plaines; a sister-in-law, Patricia Seganfredo Kostadin of Livingston; nieces and nephews, Carol (David) Hudson of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Connie (Brad) Frerichs of Litchfield, Tina (Winston) Grabner of Litchfield, Chuck (Karen) Krusa of Crossville, Tenn., and Joseph R. Kostadin Jr. of Livingston.

Funeral services were on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023 at 10 a.m at Lesicko Funeral Home located in Livingston. The visitation was one hour prior to the service that occurred at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston. Father Thomas Hagstrom did the officiating and burial followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
