The boys and girls South Central Conference golf tournament was held at Indian Springs Golf Course in Fillmore on Monday, Sept. 26. There were 10 boys teams participating in the tournament and six girls teams.
The Litchfield boys golf team took first place with 315 strokes on 18 holes. The Staunton boys golf team took 2nd place with 336 strokes. Scoring for the Bulldogs was by Preston Denney (team medalist, (75), Broc Best (82), Luke Meyer (86) and Bryce Coalson (93). Carlinville boys took 3rd place with 348 strokes. Additional scores for the boys teams included Vandalia - 357, Hillsboro - 360, Greenville - 360, North Mac - 382, Gillespie- 387, Southwestern - 419 and Pana - 448. There were 11 boys recognized for All Conference. Preston Denney tied for 3rd All Conference with 75 strokes. Broc Best was recognized as 8th All Conference with 82 strokes.
For the girls teams, first place went to Litchfield with 361 strokes. In 2nd place North Mac had 385 strokes. Hillsboro was in 3rd place with 439 strokes. The Staunton girls golf team was in fourth place with 466 strokes. Scoring for the girls were Lilly Bandy (team medalist, 99), Breanna Feeley (102), Emma Tjaden (104) and Madyson Dugger (161).
Other team scores included Pana at 475 and Vandalia with 503 strokes. Staunton girls recognized as All Conference included Lilly Bandy with 99 strokes for 10th place All Conference and Breanna Feeley tied for 11th place All Conference with 102 strokes.
Good luck to the both teams as they start post-season play. The boys play Wednesday, Oct. 5, with Regionals at Timber Lakes, and the girls team will start post-season play on Thursday, Oct. 6, at Belk Park.
