Band's season starts in May

During Monday night’s city council meeting, John Fassero from the Heritage Community Band spoke briefly to the council about this year’s concert season. The first concert of the season will be over Memorial Day weekend, and there will be five concerts this year. Also, this is the Heritage Community Band’s 159th consecutive concert season.
The council approved a request from Zion Lutheran School to close Henry Street from Hoxsey Street to Wood Street on Thursday, May 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. for a Touch-A-Truck event in front of the school.
Certificates of Deposit were recently cashed at the Bank of Hillsboro:
Band Fund - $10,000 plus $7.95 interest; ESDA Fund - $10,000 plus $7.95 interest; General Fund - $200,000 plus $158.74 interest; Infrastructure Fund - $500,000 plus $396.83 interest; MFT Fund - $50,000 plus $39.70 interest; Sewer Fund - $200,000 plus $158.73 interest; Telecommunications Fund - $100,000 plus $79.36 interest; and Tourism Fund - $80,000 plus $63.50 interest.
City Clerk Dennis Stiegemeier recently completed an audit with the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund and the city was in compliance with all reports requested.
The city clerk’s office will be closed on Friday, April 15, in observance of Good Friday.
Quotes were approved from Illini Tech Services for one Dell desktop computer for the police department at a cost of $1,180 and for three laptop computers for the police department at a cost of $4,347.
First readings of two ordinances approving charity roadblocks were given: V. F. W. Post #1241 at the intersection of Main And Route 4 and Main and Union on May 13 and 14; and Staunton Lions Club's annual Tootsie Pop Day at the same intersections on May 21.
The first reading of the appropriations ordinance for the fiscal rear May 1, 2022, to April 30, 2023, was given.

Raffle licenses were issued to Elbon Shrine Club and two to Concordia Hall, Inc.
Those present for the meeting were Mayor Craig Neuhaus, City Clerk Dennis Stiegemeier, Treasurer Cindy Pirok, City Attorney Phil Lading, Public Works Director Mike Kuethe, aldermen Jeff Scanzoni, Ryan Machota, John Moore, David Manning and David Dias. Police Chief Jeff Doerr and aldermen Rick Johnson, Chad Plenske, and Randy Hanks were absent. The next city council meeting will be on Monday, April 25, at 7 p.m.
