Joseph John Zimmerman, 56, of Gillespie, Ill., died at St. John's Hospital in Springfield on Sunday, March 6, 2022. He was born May 9, 1965, in Granite City to Joseph and Irene (Byrd) Zimmerman.

He was a factory laborer. Joseph was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his mother, Irene Zimmerman of Gillespie; siblings, Earl Zimmerman of Meadowbrook, Thomas Zimmerman of Gillespie, Tammy Dunn of Glen Carbon and Janell Zimmerman of Gillespie. He was preceded in death by his father; and brother, Neal Zimmerman.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 10, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Gillespie.
