Meador

Emmett C. Meador, 80, of Hamel, passed away at his residence in Hamel on Sunday, March 10, 2024. She was born April 16, 1943 in Hot Coal, W. Va., the son to the late Oscar Meador and Margaret (Perdue) Meador. he married Belinda L. Niehaus on May 31, 1986 in Carpenter, Ill., and she survives.

Emmett graduated from Pineville, West Virginia High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army and he was an Ironworker and EAP Coordinator at Granite City Steel in Granite City for 40 years and he retired in 2004.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, a member of Staunton American Legion Post No. 362. He loved fishing, wood-working, a the St. Louis Cardinals.

He is survived by two daughters,Vicki (Larry) Hurley, Fults, Ill. and Amy (Courtney) Shands Kirkwood, Mo .; two sons, Jeff (Kristin) Meador, Albuquerque, N.M. and Zachary Meador, Edwardsville; eight grandchildren, Ashley (James) Beckering, Katie Meador, Toni Osborn, Emily Shands, Samantha Shands, Madeline Shands, Courtney Shands, and Kyle Lemke; four great-grandchildren, Julian Moran, Kyleigh Moran, Lia Meador, and Ali Meador; and one brother, Tom Meadore. He was preceded in death by one son, John Meador; one daughter, Beth Osborn; and one sister, Frances Weible.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel. Funeral services will be on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel and Rev. Benjamin Ball will be officiating. Interment will be on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Wares Grove Cemetery in Butler, Ill., and the Staunton Military Honor Guard will conduct graveside military rites. Williamson Funeral Home of Staunton is in charge of arrangements.
