Wilburn “Wayne” DeBoard, 72, of Mt. Olive, passed away at his home on Feb. 5, 2024. Wayne was born April 18, 1951 to Andrew Jackson DeBoard and Adele Beatrice Cattlet in Trumann, Ark. Wayne was raised in Wilmington, Ill. He married Cindy Sue Alverson on Aug. 18, 1984 in Decatur and she survives.

Wayne’s service spanned from 1970 to 1974 in the United States Army, where he bravely served in Vietnam. Wayne also served as a Lieutenant and Firearms Instructor at Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro, retiring after 32 years in 2005. He dedicated many years to serving as a police officer...
