James D. Hlafka, 90, of Bunker Hill, died at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton on Dec. 31, 2023. James was born Dec. 13, 1933, in Gillespie to the late Albert J. Hlafka and Genevieve H. (Wilson) Hlafka. He married Sandra (Barth) Hlafka of Bunker Hill, on April 28, 1961 in Bunker Hill and she survives.

He was a school teacher and coach for Bunker Hill School District. Everyone that knew Jim knew basketball was his life.

He is survived by his son, Mike (Michele) Hlafka of Kingwood, Texas; daughter, Marti Hlafka of Springfield, Ill.; five grandchildren, Brooklyn (Tom) East, Michaela (Nick) All...
