Steele

Charles “Ed” Steele, 88, of Worden, Ill., died at Anderson Hospital in Maryville on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023. He was born Oct. 28, 1935, in Ripley County, Mo., the son of the late Thomas R. Steele and Mary Sullivan Steele. He married Anna Gulley on Aug. 6, 1962, in East St. Louis, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 2001.

He worked as a telecommunications operator at Madison Telco in Staunton for several years. He served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his daughter, Lora (David) Connor of Worden; his son, Eddie (Theresa) Steele of Collinsville; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Zach) Gilbert...
