Dobrinich

Damian P. Dobrinich, 58, of Staunton, Ill., died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, near Fillmore. He was born Nov. 22, 1964, a son of the late Nicholas Joseph Dobrinich Sr. and Mary Olga Nardin Dobrinich. He married Dimitria “Wah-ker” Sies, and they later divorced.

He was a chemical operator at Phillips 66 Refinery for 33 years. Damian served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Staunton and was a past member of Staunton VFW Post #1241. He loved fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his daughter, Vanessa Dobrinich of Staunton; his son, Nicholas (Kendall) Dobrinich of Highland; two grandchildren, Madaline and Grayson Horne of Staunton; eight siblings, Diana Newby of Mt. Olive, Nancy (Harold) Johns of Staunton, Mary (Paul) Reid of California, Dan (Tammy) Dobrinich of Staunton, Linda (Bob) Summers of Staunton, Tina Dobrinich (Mengiste Ayele) of Bloomington, Laurie Dobrinich of Staunton, Jody Dobrinich of Staunton; and many nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Nicholas “Mickey” Dobrinich Jr.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, Nov. 24, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton. Funeral services will follow on Friday at 12 noon at the church with Rev. Thomas Hagstrom officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Olive.
