He married Linda Pass on April 25, 1970, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton, and she survives.

Herb was the owner of Sievers Truck Service in Staunton for many years. He started it in 1973 with one truck and over the years grew the business to over 20 trucks. He also served as alderman for the City of Staunton for four years. He loved spending time with his family. Herb was known as a hard worker and never knew what a less-than-40-hour work week was. He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.

Herb is survived by his wife, Linda Sievers of Staunton; one son, Mark (Katrina) Sievers of Staunton; two daughters, Angie (Lige) Daley of Highland, Missy Griffith of Staunton; eight grandchildren, Michael Pratt, Lucas Sievers, Elijah Daley, Cadence Daley, Emerson Daley, Colton Griffith, Calvin Griffith, Mila Griffith; two sisters; one brother; sister-in-law, Caroline Strasen of Staunton; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
