Mishanec

Joseph A. Mishanec, 90, of Staunton, Ill., died on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Aspen Creek in Troy. He was born May 15, 1932, the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Rumisek) Mishanec. He married Joy M. Fraker on March 20, 1955, at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2023.

Joe was an iron worker out of Local #396 in East St. Louis. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He met his sweetie at an Officers Ball. Joe loved his family and he loved to play golf. He and his wife Joy ran the Adopt-A-Pet Benefit Golf Tournament for over 10 years.

He is survived by three children, Steve Mishanec, Jeff (Kathy) Mishanec, Cathy (Larry) Cimarolli; five grandchildren, Nicole Dautenhahn, Rachael Mishanec, Autumn Haas, Michelle Colborn, Matt Colborn; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph E. Mishanec; a granddaughter, Ashley Haas; and five siblings, Lydia, Stella, Oly, Violet, and Irene.

A memorial service was held on Monday, May 15, at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Private burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton.
