Dale Eugene "Geno" Hughes, 61, of Illinois died on Feb. 25, 2023. Geno grew up in Gillespie, and became an over-the-road truck driver. He loved to drive and see as much of God's country that he could with his fiancée, Nancy, by his side.

He is survived by one daughter, Shirley (Chris) Rick of Minnesota; grandchildren, Cheyenne Rose, Kristen Lily, Hunter Lee Rick of Minnesota; sisters, Mary Hughes of Illinois, Shirley (Chris) Freese of Florida; and eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Hughes; father, Joseph Hughes, Sr .; brother, Joseph Hughes, Jr .; grandsons, Dylan Alexander, Dakota Otto; and his fiancée, Nancy.
