Randall Herman Caldwell, 88, of Bunker Hill, Ill., died at his residence on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023. He was born Dec. 15, 1934, in Mattoon to Elwood Caldwell and Jessie Patrick Caldwell. He married Joy Lee Mansholt, and she survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during Korea. He was a retired operating engineer for Local 520. Randall was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 520. He was former road commissioner for Dorchester Township. His favorite saying was "Oh My."
He is survived by his wife, Joy Caldwell of Bunker Hill; children, Randall Caldwell of Licking, Mo., Melody Smith of Bunker Hill, Jessica (Dennis) Berry of Moro; stepchildren, Carl (Marisol) Dittmaier of Corpus Christi, Texas, Andy Dittmaier of Indianapolis, Ind., David (Julia) Dittmaier of Gillespie; grandchildren, Randy, Hannah, Shafer, Haley, Robert, Kasie, Sylvia; 13 great-grandchildren or "his little people"; five great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Melvin (Josephine) Caldwell of Sacramento, Calif., and Wayne (Frances) Caldwell of Alton. Randall was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Georgia Combs Caldwell; and great-grandson, Isaac Smith.
Friends may call on Saturday, Jan. 14, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with a memorial service following at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
