The Staunton High School boys basketball team competed in the Carlinville Holiday Tournament last week.

#24 Victor Buehler shoots a free throw and sinks it during the 3rd place game against Hillsboro in the Carlinville Holiday Tournament. Hillsboro was the winner 66-41.

On Dec. 26, the Staunton boys defeated Calhoun 55-39. Branden Buffington led the Bulldog scoring with 27 points, sinking 3 from the 3-point range and making 4 of his 5 free throw attempts. Brady Gillen sank 5 from the 3-point range for another 15 points. Also scoring, Luke Dewitt made 6 points, Cole Sternickle 3, Ethan Sharp and Adam Overby each added 2.

On Dec. 27, the Bulldogs defeated Carlinville 52-39. Buffington and Gillen again led the Bulldog scoring with 21 and 19 points respectively. Sharp scored 8 points. Overby and Ben Atkins each added 2 points.

On Dec. 28, the Bulldogs lost to Litchfield 42-58. Buffington and Gillen each scored 17 points. Dewitt, Overby, Zander Machota and Sternickle each added 2 points.

On Dec. 29, the Bulldogs lost the 3rd place game to Hillsboro, 41-66.

This Friday, Jan. 6, the Bulldogs travel to Pana for a 6 p.m. conference game. They return home Jan. 10 for a 6 p.m. game vs. Civic Memorial.
