Joan and Alfred Culp of Highland will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 20 with a family gathering.

Kenneth G. Oettel (67) of Staunton died Dec. 5 at his home.

Kathryn E. Blanchard (71) of Gillespie died Dec. 6 at her home.

Marcus O. Netzke (53) of Falling Waters, W.V., died Dec. 6 at his home.

Carla Jean (Johnson) DeBoord (28) of Mims, Fla., formerly of Staunton, died Nov. 24 at Orlando Regional Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Sister Agnes Stipcak (75) of Richfield, Ohio, formerly of Staunton, died Nov. 25 at Regina Health Center in Richfield.

Mary Kathryn Turnbull (84) of Mt. Olive died Dec. 8 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Issue of Dec. 12, 2007

Two men from Gillespie, Jonathan S. Bultema (25) and Robert “Derek” Rauzi (23) were killed in a one-vehicle accident on Route 4 south of Staunton.

A Worden man, Michael J. Consiglio Jr., was arrested for stealing scrap metal.

Alderman Fred Lotter was hired by the council to run the new water pilot plant.

A son was born to Scott and Beth Heffren of Troy on Oct. 30.

Twins, a son and daughter, were born to Allen and Christy (Brackman) Downing of Staunton on Oct. 6.
