Archie A. Hinton, 39, of Staunton, was charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery both Class 3 felonies. According to the Madison County Sheriff's Department, on Sept. 23 Hinton allegedly struck a woman 60 or older on the legs with his hand.

He has prior convictions for domestic battery out of Madison County in 2020 and March 2022, and aggravated battery involving the victim of the Sept. 23 incident in 2020. Bail was set at $70,000.
