Staunton track teams hosted SCC Meet

 


The Staunton High School boys and girls track teams hosted and competed in the South Central Conference meet on May 3.

Men’s Results

Carlinville won the Men’s Division with a team score of 137 followed by Pana 133, Litchfield 84, Staunton 63, Hillsboro 52, Gillespie 41, Southwestern 34, Vandalia 11 and Greenville 2.

Staunton points were won in the following events.

Drake Dufrain led the team with two first place finishes and earned a total of 20 points. His time of 16.23 was first in the 110m hurdles and his time of 44.15 was first in the 300m hurdles.

Other individuals winning points were:

3200 Meter Run - Troy Albertina was 4th place for 4 points and Nicholas Monahan 6th for 1.

Thomas Ogata tied for 4th in the high jump - 3 pts.

Braden Buffington placed 3rd in the long jump for 6 pts. and 5th in the triple jump for 2 pts.

Relay teams - 4x100 (Dufrain, Rantanen, Mullenix, Buffington) were 2nd for 8 points.

4x200 team (Mullenix, Rantanen, Strebel, Dillon) won first place with 1:39.7 time for 10 points.

4x400 team (Strebel, Rantanen, Matesa, Buffington) placed 2nd for 8 points.

4x800 team (Best, Jarden, Luketich, Ogata) placed 6th for 1 point.

Womens Results

Litchfield took first place with a team score of 174 followed by Carlinville 95, Pana 71, Staunton 62, Southwestern 52, Gillespie 51, Vandalia 33, Greenville 5, and Hillsboro 4.

In dash events, Grace Bekeske and Gianna Bianco fininshed 4-5 in the 400m dash earning 4 and 2 points for Staunton. LillyTrettenero was 5th in the 100m dash adding another 2 points.

Lexi Hester placed 3rd in the 1600 run earning 6 points and Sam Schnefke placed 4th in the 300m hurdles good for 4 points.

Bekeske and Bianco tied for 2nd in the high jump winning 2nd and 3rd place for a total of 14 points. Bekeske and Bianco also placed 4th-5th in the Triple Jump for 4 and 2 more team points.

Lilly Trettenero placed 3rd in the pole vault adding 6 team points.

All of the relay teams won points for Staunton. Trettenero, Bekeske, Baima, Bianco placed 3rd in the 4x100 good for 6 points.

Biama, Hainaut, Wright and Pfeiffer were 4th in the 4x200 for 4 points.

Trettenero, Pfeiffer, Baima and Hester won 5th in the 4x400 for 2 points.

Pfeiffer, Wright, Schnefke and Hester placed 3rd in the 4x800 earning 6 team points.
