DeVries

James "Jim" DeVries, 60, of Staunton, Ill., died at Community Hospital of Staunton on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021. He was born July 8, 1961, in Staunton, the son of the late Lawrence and Melba (Hartke) DeVries. He married Judy Brunnworth on Aug. 8, 1984, and she survives.

Jim worked as a farm operations manager at Sievers Equipment in Hamel for over 40 years, and ran his family farm. Jim was a proud farmer and loved old tractors. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton and Staunton FFA Alumni Association. Jim graduated from Staunton High School in 1979. He was a friend to everyone and was rarely seen without a smile on his face. Jim's grandchildren were his life.

He is survived by his wife, Judy DeVries of Staunton; two daughters, Jaclyn (Eric) Dunnavant of Staunton, Jodyne (Jordan Bourbon) DeVries of Belleville; six siblings, Dean (Miriam) DeVries, Barb (Dennis) Brackman, Glenn (Cheryl) DeVries, Al (Andrea) DeVries, Amy (Jim) Johnson, and Don (Rhonda) DeVries; three grandchildren, Theodore and Annabelle Dunnavant, Forrest Bourbon, and Baby Bourbon on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton with Rev. Kelly Mitteis officiating. Interment will be in Spangle Cemetery near Livingston.
