Marcia Kay McGhee, 78, died on Sept. 22, 2021. She was born March 8,1943, in Kansas City, Mo. She was the oldest child born to Merle and Dorothy Wright.
Marcia graduated from the University of Missouri with a double major in French and Spanish. In 1966, she moved to Staunton to teach Spanish at Staunton High School. Although she had several offers to teach at the college level, she would continue to teach at Staunton High School for over 30 years until retirement. While she was teaching in Staunton, she received a master's degree from Monterey Tech, in Monterey, Mexico. She also took additional classes toward her Doctorate at SIUE.
In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, taking care of her fruit trees and spending time with her beloved three cats. She was a fabulous cook and baker. For many years, she made candy and cookie plates to give to friends and family at Christmas. She was also an avid reader, reading many different types of books.
She is survived by her sons Mark McGhee of Mt. Olive, Chris McGhee (Crystal Ferina) of Monroe, La.; and three grandchildren, Zack, Owen, and Hudson. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Dorothy Wright.
