Gillespie Daisy Girl Scout Troop 6212, run by Katie Drummond, Beth Baugh and Jesssica Chapman, spent the month of March decorating 100 flowerpots to sell at the Gillespie High School FFA Spring Greenhouse.

The Troop members are Autumn Baugh; Corinne Bonstead; Meritt Chapman; Stella Cox; Mia Dunn; Bella Hancock; Aria Heyen; Eden Schuster; and Kenlee Tallman. The girls learned about art, philanthropy, nature, community service, and the importance of the FFA organization.

The Gillespie High School FFA Organization is run by Kayla Wils, Greenhouse Manager Nathan Spencer, and Junior Greenhouse manager Tripp Kessinger. There are currently 48 active members in their FFA Chapter. The Horticulture members are Hank Fletcher; Lex Collins; Alicia Mason; Camden Anders; Steven Kochinski; Felicia Lambert; Ashton Whitlow; Brookelyn Crotchett; Aide Bailey; Zach Carney; Collin Giffith; DeShaunta Jackson; Beverly Hupp; Joe Basglin; Myca Mckee; and Marshall Garwood.

The FFA Spring Greenhouse will comprise of annuals, perennials, hanging baskets and a variety of garden plants. The Girl Scout decorated pots will cost $4, measure four inches in top diameter, be decorated in flowers and butterflies, and will come with dirt and your choice of wildflower seeds.

The girls hope to use the proceeds to buy flowers for the community garden and future troop events. The Gillespie High School FFA Organization utilizes their greenhouse for educational purposes and profit for future agricultural and horticultural student and community needs.

The girls scouts are planning to sell during the April dates as supplies last.
