Don't Let Digital And Social Media Retire The High School Yearbook

Attention to any and all Bunker Hill High School parents, guardians, grandparents and students:

The last day to purchase your 2023-2024 BHHS Yearbook is quickly approaching and, sadly, only around 35 books have so far been ordered.

It is understandable that in this day and age of social media, it can be tempting to assume from a students’ perspective that they won’t be missing out on anything by not purchasing a yearbook. However, many adults value the physical historic artifact from their high school experience. It’s important for current students to not miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Believe it or not, high school is something that can never be recreated throughout an individuals life as they grow older and wiser. School reunions are wonderful and allow everyone to get together and share stories and catch up on old memories. However, they are exactly what the name suggests: an annual reunion. It can be hard to catch up and laugh through old memories at reunions without at least one year book being present. Digital media does a wonderful job, but it can not recreate the lived experience nor can it encapsulate the energy that was provided by the environment of High School like a yearbook can.
