Issue of April 7, 1999

City and school board election candidate profiles were published from Mike Arnold and Barry Deist for mayor and Rick Fey for Ward 4 alderman; and Tom Allen, Hulda Black, Rebecca Bohlen, Reva Bowen, Barry Hainaut, Karen Margaritis and Tim Williamson for school board.

Carrie Weber and Bill Viehweg were married Oct. 24, 1998, in Mt. Olive.

A son was born to Anthony and Heather Masinelli on March 13 in Litchfield.

Larry Joe Price (53) of Florissant, Mo., formerly of Mt. Olive died April 2 at Christian Hospital North West.

Nancy Alice (Neal) Spensberger (93) of Mt. Olive died April 4 at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

George (Mark) Banjavcic (77) formerly of Staunton died in Coral Springs, Fla.

The water line work came to a halt last week when the city and Moniger Excavating needed to come to agreement on a change order.


Two houses are being demolished to make room for a new medical office building across the street from the hospital.

The Staunton School Board passed a resolution that will allow them to request a new election due to the fact that an error was included on the ballot.
