Mark A. Rhodes, 61, of Gillespie, died at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, on Saturday, March 30, 2024. He was born Jan. 21, 1963, in Staunton the son of father, Robert J. (spouse, Adell (Medley) Rhodes) and mother, Mary M. (Ogilvie) Rhodes and they preceded him in death. He married Marilyn S. (Mallory) Rhodes, of Gillespie, on April 22, 2000 in Gillespie and she survives.

Mark was a laborer for Aladdin Steel and he was a member of the Litchfield Moose and Gillespie Fire Department. He was an avid Cub fan. Mark loved his grandkids and being outdoors with tractors.

He is survived by his children, Zachary (Taylor) Rhodes, Staunton, Deanna (Jeremy) Ellis, Gillespie, and Michael (Allison) Rhodes of Palmyra; ten grandchildren, Maris Rhodes, Ayden Madeline, Traegen Madeline, Lincoln Ellis, Caleb Ellis, Chloe Ellis, Corbin Bates, Blaze Rhodes, Hali Rhodes, and Braylon Rhodes; siblings, Janice (John) Snopko, Mt. Olive, Rhonda Chapman New Port Richey, Fla., and Kim (Melvin) Thornhill, Gillespie; father-in-law, Carl Mallory, Gillespie; and mother-in-law, Joyce Mallory, Gillespie. Mark was preceded in death by his daughter, Abigail Rhodes; and brother, Ron Smith. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Funeral services will follow Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Kravanya Funeral Home of Gillespie is in charge of the arrangements.
