Marie G. Mindrup, age 86 of Alhambra, died Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Staunton Health and Nursing Rehab in Staunton.

She was born on Saturday, October 30, 1937, in Staunton the daughter of Edwin H. Ahrens and Gertrude (nee Arnold) Ahrens and they preceded her in death. On May 9, 1959, she married Vernon I. Mindrup at the Braunschweig Lutheran Church, South Staunton who survives.

She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ; ATA Auxiliary, Leef Township Homemakers, Alhambra Community Club and Salem United Church of Christ Women's Guild. Former Member of the Madison County Rural Youth.

She graduated from a one room grade school house and then attended Staunton High School where she graduated in 1955. She was baptized and confirmed at Braunschweig Lutheran Church at south Staunton. Upon graduation she worked for Hano Manufacturing in Mt. Olive. Marie was very big in her Decamp 4-H Club. She had a love for her horses, Trigger and Champ. She rode them in many parades. She loved flowers, cake decorating and her family's prize winning Illinois State Fair pig. She loved living on the farm and enjoyed combining, using the self propelled combine. She was a 4-H Leader for 30-plus years and was awarded at the Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. She met her future husband, Vernon at a 4-H function.


She is survived by her, sonRonald V. (Aminda) Mindrup, Alhambra; grandchild, Ronnelle M. Griffith, Alhambra, Ashlie E. L. Mindrup, Alhambra; great-grandchild, Xarie Griffith, Alhambra. She was preceded in death by grandchild, Jacob B. Mindrup; brother, Edward H. Ahrens and Aaron R. Ahrens.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra with Rev. Jeremy R. Wood officiating. Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Alhambra. Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra.

Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or Donor's Choice.
