SHS experiences student absences uptick

There has been an uptick in student absences compared to last year at this same time.

While it is not encouraged that children come to school sick, it is encouraged that they be in attendance. The State of Ill. allows ten excused absences per school year. Anything beyond that can result in truancy referrals.

When students aren’t in the building, they miss information, assignments and assessments.

It has been noticed that many of those students who are absent frequently have lower grades and academic performance.
