Macoupin County man airlifted from crash scene on I-55

A driver was air-lifted after a horrific crash on Interstate 55 in Macoupin County, on the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 1.

The Illinois State Police were called to an accident on I-55 northbound south of Staunton Road because there had been a report of an incident. Due to the information provided to them, they were aware that the crash involved two truck-tractor semi-trailers.

The driver of one truck was transported by helicopter to a regional hospital with injuries. As of now, there has not been any information released or available that discusses the condition of the man hospitalized.
