Gallatin River Communications is now the new owner of the local telephone service. It was formerly owned by Sprint.

The second round of the football playoffs will be played in Staunton against Stillman Valley.

Lisa Mull and Steven Claytor were married May 23 in Staunton.

A son was born to David and Karen (Masinelli) Robertson of rural New Douglas on Sept. 25 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Norman E. Sauerwein (63) of Bunker Hill died Jan. 21 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Alison (Jenkins) White (46) of Forgan, Okla., formerly of Worden, died Oct. 26 at the family home.

Issue of Nov. 5, 2008

Two men were found dead in their Williamson home on Sunday. The deaths of John L. McAfee, 68, and Kelly W. Jackson, 48, step-father and step-son, are being treated as homicides.

Rita D. Parks, 49, of rural Staunton entered Citizen’s National Bank on Friday, Halloween day, wearing a black ski mask and stated it was a hold-up. She was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Clem and Joann (Enlow) Less of Staunton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 26.
