Published in the Interest of the Staunton Community for Over 143 Years
Staunton, Ill., witnessed a truly remarkable event on Wednesday, Oct. 11, when the community gathered at Staunton High School's football field for "Fields of Faith."
This special event, organized in partnership between The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and United to Revive Ministries (U2R), was a night filled with joy and life-changing decisions.
Over 200 individuals came together, united by a common goal – to share the love and grace of Jesus with our local youth. The key moments that occured are:
Free Food:
All attendees were treated to complimentary Papa Jo Dani's food, symbolizing the care and love the community has for its young members.
Games and Prizes:
Students were given free FCA merch, played games, and one lucky student took home the grand prize; a free Playstation 5 video game console.
Youth Testimonies:
Three brave students stepped forward to share their heartfelt testimonies, revealing their deep love for Jesus, and their stories touched the hearts of their peers.
Youth Led Worship:
The youth worship team led the crowd in worship, creating an atmosphere of reverence and spirituality.
A True Message:
Patrice Corso, FCA area rep., delivered a powerful message rooted in God's Word, reminding us of our true identity in God's eyes. "Don't believe the lies you hear. God's Word speaks the Truth. That Truth is that, 'you ARE God's Masterpiece...Created in Christ for Good works before the world began.'"
Life-Changing Opportunity:
After the message Jeremiah Goltz, from U2R Ministries, extended an invitation for students to make a decision, "Do you want to follow the world and do what everyone else is doing? Or be a rebel and follow Christ?" He then gave an opportunity for students to receive Eternal Life through Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross.
A Night of Transformation:
The culmination of the evening was when over 50 students chose to surrender their lives to Jesus. The track became a place of transformation, with young souls embracing the gift of eternal life.
One attendee summed up the evening: "You could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit throughout the night. Praise God!"
The night would not have been possible without the support of our local partners and dedicated volunteers who came together for our students.
A Call for More Community-Building Events:
The organizers of Fields of Faith, pray that similar opportunities will continue to emerge in our surrounding areas, fostering unity among communities for our children and for the Kingdom of God.
May the success of Fields of Faith in Staunton serve as a catalyst for similar events to flourish in our local communities. United, we can and will be a source of light for our youth across the Riverbend and Metro East area.
