Reynolds

Carol Sue Reynolds, 77, of Byrnes Mill, Mo., died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, at St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, Mo. She was born Sept. 21, 1946, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City, Ill., to Harold and Laverne (Schauster) Hill of Highland. She and her sisters were raised by their foster parents, Carl and Edith Raymond of Woodburn, Ill. She married William Hanner on Feb. 5, 1965, and they divorced in 1988. She later married Gary Reynolds in Hillsboro, Mo., on Sept. 7, 2018, and he survives.

Carol graduated from Bunker Hill High School in Bunker Hill in 1964. She worked at Olin Corp., East Alton, and many other jobs including being a licensed hairdresser, ending her working career selling office supplies, which she did for over 41 years. Carol, a registered organ donor, was able to give the gift of life to a man in Missouri who was in dire need of a liver transplant.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Reynolds; sons, Allen Hanner of Wentzville, Mo., Darren (Becky) Hanner of Staunton, and Kyle (Jolene) Hanner of Staunton; stepdaughter, Cheryl (Dave) Lauer of St. Louis, Mo .; sisters, Barbara Foster, of Tennessee, Sharon (Ronald) Orban, of Brighton, Ill., and Patsy (Bert) Mary of Brighton; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents; three foster brothers, Carl, Don and Bill Raymond; and her two brothers, Carl Hill and Harold Hill.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton, with Joyce Anders officiating. Burial was in Brighton Cemetery.
