Megan Sievers was crowned Homecoming Queen at Staunton High School. She was escorted by Ben Watters.

Lightning was the probable cause of a fire at 224 East Main Street in Staunton on Friday. The home was occupied by one female resident who escaped and was transported to Community Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

Michelle Emmons and Daniel Russell were married May 16 in Staunton.

A daughter was born to Chris and Aimee (Kellebrew) Raymond of Staunton on Aug. 25 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

A son was born to Simon and Tricia Hannig of Auburn on Sept. 11 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

A daughter was born to Kim and Leo Dombrowski on Sept. 25 at Hinsdale Hospital.

A son was born to Christopher Tyczka and Carey Wilhite of Edwardsville on Sept. 4 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

Verna L. Deist (81) of Staunton died Sept. 23 at Community Memorial Hospital.

Carolyn Ann “Tootie” Dufner of Gillespie died Sept. 19 at her home.

Emma Rosemary Kocian (88) of New Douglas, formerly of Chicago and Livingston, died Sept. 22 at Hampton Nursing Care in Alhambra.

Frank L. Vazzi (80) of Worden died Sept. 25 at Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton.

Verna Ann Lena Friesner of Cerro Gordo, formerly of Mt. Olive, died Sept. 27 at her home.

Henrietta “Hank” Helen Cozart (80) of Mt. Olive died Sept. 21 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Ruby Lorene “Lorraine” Lichtenthaler (70) of Mt. Olive died Sept. 26 at Heritage Manor of Staunton.

Issue of Oct. 1, 2008

Devin Painter and Cody Best were crowned Staunton High School’s Homecoming Queen and King following the play entitled “Dressed to Kill.”

Staunton CUSD’s testing scores were consistently higher than state averages.

Thomas and Beatrice Lindgens celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 27.
