Peggy Joe Eilers,72, of Staunton, Ill., died on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at her home. She was born on May 8, 1951, in Litchfield, the daughter of Hank and Millie Smith. She married John H. Eilers in Edwardsville, and he survives.

Peggy was of the Christian faith. She worked as a cook at R&B’s Family Restaurant in Staunton for many years.

Peggy is survived by her husband, John H. Eilers of Staunton; son, Joseph Hardwick of Irving, Texas; daughters, Amy Scheller of Mt. Olive and Kim Garcia of Litchfield; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one b...
