Candidates for Staunton High School Homecoming Queen are Georgia Best, Abby Neuhaus, Megan Sievers and Nicole Ziglar.

The Staunton School Board voted to add girls’ bowling as a winter sport for 1998-99 school year and boys’ soccer as a fall sport for the 1999-2000 school year.

A son was born to Matt and Bridget (Elders) Mullenix of Staunton on Sept. 12 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

Norman and Roleen (Hartke) Henke of Staunton will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on Oct. 3.

Debra (Greeling) Wesbrook and David Odorizzi were married Sept. 14 in Staunton.

A daughter was born to Kent and Julie (Blotevogel) Fincke of St. Charles, Mo., on Sept. 9.

Charles L. Rutherford (82) of Shipman died Sept. 19 at Jersey Community Hospital.

Homecoming queen and king candidates were announced. Those running for homecoming queen are Ashley Rensing, Carmi Cioni, Samantha Rogers, Tara Allen, Lika Hindi, Alex Senaldi, Devin Painter and Megan Boston. King candidates are Eric Yarnik, Gary Fuller, Taylor Wright, Zack Arnett, Cody Best, Tyler Brauer, Lucas Loots and Michael Mihelcic.

The Macoupin County Public Health Department will no longer hold an immunization clinic in Staunton.

Remodeling of the Staunton High School restrooms could postpone the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year.

A son was born to Elisabeth and Scott Wyatt of Mt. Olive on Aug. 19.

A son was born to Rhet and Krista Mansholt of Alhambra on Sept. 11.
