Celebrating 50th wedding anniversary

Delmar and Sarah (Evers) Bequette of New Douglas are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on Sept. 27, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Valley Park, Mo.

Delmar and Sarah became neighbors in 1953 and went to high school together. They married and moved to rural Hamel in a home they built themselves. For 25 years they have been in New Douglas, and they have restored their 1912 home while restoring two antique trucks.

Sarah retired from Hamel State Bank, and Delmar retired his first time in 1992 and a second time in 2022.

They are the proud parents of Donna (Kevin) Wendel of Glen Carbon, David (Kathy) Bequette of Edwardsville, Diane (Matthew) Wiegand of Highland, Steve (Linda) Bequette of Worden, and Julie (Dan) Sullivan of Syracuse, N.Y. They have 13 grandchildren and one that's deceased; and five great-grandchildren.
