The H and B Bremer Wildlife Sanctuary in Hillsboro will have Tony Rothering, who is a licensed bird bander from the Lincoln Land Association of Bird Banders, capturing and banding birds from 8 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Participants will receive an up-close view of birds while learning about the scientific process of banding. Those in attendance will also learn how the data is used to study topics such as, bird population dynamics and the impact of habit change on the diversity and density of bird species.
"Be a Bander" is a children's program where kids can extract plush birds from a mist net to learn the process of banding, will be offered at 9, 10, and 11 a.m. The banding program is continous, so arrive anytime between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. and don't forget to take a lawn chair.
