Mike Favre expressed interest in purchasing or trading land for city-owned land next to the former Forest Lakes Resort. He is making an 18-hole golf course in that location.

Kay and Vince Boster (former chief of police) were killed in a head-on collision on Renken Road on Thursday, May 28. Four others were seriously injured.

Dwight Brackman announced the merger of his business, Brackman Insurance and Financial Resources, into a new wholly owned subsidiary of First National Bank known as 1st BancFinancial located in the Staunton facility.

A son was born to Bill and Karen (Leetham) Burdell of Litchfield on May 24 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

A son was born to Allen and Kim (Leaser) Meyer of Staunton on May 29 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

A daughter was born to Patrick and Stacy Shelton of Staunton on May 28 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

A daughter was born to Terry and Susan (Sievers) Johnston of Staunton on May 12, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

Harry Chura (73) of Staunton died May 27 at his home.

Lena M. Mackie (88) of Staunton died May 26 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Staunton.

Barbara “Kay” Boster (57) of Staunton died May 28 at the scene of an automobile accident on Renken Road near Staunton.

Vinson L. Boster (59) of Staunton died May 28 at Community Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Emma Schulmeister (85) of Staunton died May 30 at Community Memorial Hospital.

The city will be putting in a new park near the water tower where the bike trail will enter town.

The eighth grade promotion was held at Staunton Junior High School.

M. Suzan McCollum and David M. Young were married May 17 in Sawyerville.
