Helen Kostadin Kern celebrated her 104th birthday with family and friends at San Gabriel's in Highland.

She was born May 19, 1919, in Livingston to parents, Joseph R. Kostadin, Sr. and Barbara (Skertich) Kostadin. She had three older sisters and one younger brother.

After graduating from high school, she moved to Chicago and worked 38 years in payroll for Mars Candy Co. She married Roy Kern in Chicago, and they were married for 46 years.
