Bingo and fellowship with Mt. Olive Area Seniors

Mt. Olive Area Seniors kicked off their March 1 meeting with pizza and drinks provided by Jim and Denise Gipson. Afterwards, a beautifully decorated cake from B&K Bakery, provided by fellow member Doris Jones, was served to all. So delicious! Thank you Jim, Denise, and Doris. They have agreed to be part of our Promotion Committee along with this article's writer.

With everyone now in an elevated mood, President Marquerite brought the meeting to order. Special prayers were given for member Wanda Boerkle as she is dearly missed. After a pledge, officers were nominated and voted upon to serve this current year. Incumbents will continue in their current offices excepting Kathy McDaniel, who will now serve as our newly elected vice-president, filling in as needed which she already does. Thanks Kathy.

New members were accepted to include: Marie Ruyle, Beverly Laws, Pauline Cerantano, Nadine Hauschild, Doris Jones, Marilyn Sumner, Janet Keiser, and Bob Kuehl. Doris Thomas brought her friend, Dixie Ross, attending from The Glenwood of Staunton. Also, Leslie Vannoy, regional administrator with The Glenwood, facilitated the numerous bingo games while also distributing many, many gifts donated by The Glenwood. Thanks to Leslie and The Glenwood.

Drawing the lucky numbers for 50/50 were Margaret Heinemeyer and JoAnn Claro, who both expressed their gratitude. Others, too, smiled contentedly as Leslie announced their winning bingo numbers. It's a good feeling.

MOAS welcomes any and all new visitors. Remember, "first timers" play free, compliments of the association. We meet on the first and third Wednesday of every month at Mt Olive's VFW Post 5790 located on Route 138 just west of downtown Mt. Olive. We hope you'll come out and get to know us. Next meeting is on March 15. See if you, too, can master the secrets of winning at this long time tradition. Try to arrive early, noonish or sooner, thereby allowing time to purchase cards and tickets for giveaways, plus have a cup of Marquerite's fresh brewed hot coffee.
