City and township donate to VFW Post 1241

The Staunton VFW Post 1241 has been an inte- gral part of our community since 1934. For the last 88 years they have served not only their country but our community. The VFW has served as the city's cooling and warming center for Staunton in times of need and by proclamation has been designated the city's official cooling and warming center.

Unfortunately, due to problems caused by the pandemic shut down and a faltering economy the Post now sees itself in need of support. There are three of the four air conditioning/furnaces now out of order and are considered irreparable and in need of complete replacement. The estimate to replace those units is $24,455.81. This is the cheapest bid of three from area businesses. Donations so far have left a balance of roughly $8,000.

The City of Staunton and Staunton Township each donated $5,000 to VFW Post 1241.
