Mt. Olive Area Seniors

Pictured are Kenton Gaston, Beverly and Pauline at the most recent Mt. Olive Area Seniors gathering.

Mt. Olive Area Seniors recently met on Feb. 15 at the Mt. Olive VFW located on Route 138 just west of Mt. Olive. Along with four new attendees, a very special visitor also attended. President Marquerite brought her little granddaughter. This little baby brought much joy and spirit to our gathering. While mostly sleeping, she also enjoyed her bottle as Marquerite took time out for necessities and others watched. This little baby is such a beautiful gift to our event and world. Another precious miracle of life begins her journey here on Earth.

Along with all of us, our new attendees enjoyed ham and cheese sandwiches along with chips, drinks, and cupcakes. Joining us for the first time were: Beverly Laws, Nadine Hauschild, and Pauline Cerantano. Beverly received an air fryer as her lucky prize. Also JoAnn Claro returned to share with us her stories and laughter.

Although many that play are winners at bingo, some members seem to win more often. When asked, "What's the secret to bingo?", a variety of responses were given. One member who goes by Granny, felt having a lucky card wins. Another player thought 'paying attention' important. Margaret Heinemeyer simply stated, "Getting the numbers wins", along with Delores Masinelli's declaration, "Calling the right numbers." Meanwhile, Nancy Johns reflected and humbly stated that she's still learning. So whatever their secrets, just participating in the quietude of a hall filled with focused minds brings tranquil moments to an event-filled day. Very relaxing and therapeutic.

Our next gathering will be on Wednesday, March 1. The hall opens by 11 a.m. Arriving by noon will allow time to purchase cards and other tickets for giveaways. So come on out and meet us, smiles and love are aplenty.
