Events at Shibui Art Gallery in Gillespie

Shibui Studio Art Gallery, located at 119 S. Macoupin Street in Gillespie presents “Stillness, Beauty & Grace” art exhibit Nov. 26 through Dec. 28. Call for art online submission between Nov. 10-16. To learn more and submit work: https://shibuistudio.com/call-for-art. This exhibit theme brings awareness to the time of year where we pause to reflect, to savor, to be grateful and to appreciate the beauty and grace that exists even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty.

The opening reception is Saturday, Nov. 26, 6-8 p.m. and will be an evening of paintings and poetry. See how a few poets whom each selected a piece in the exhibit have interpreted the art through the written word.

“I am enthusiastic about this exhibit as it has a deep meaning for me. As an artist and poet, I have been expressing the qualities of stillness, beauty and grace for 20 years through art and word. I am drawn to an artistic relationship between visual and verse,” says Genece Hamby, owner of the gallery.

During this upcoming holiday season, Shibui Studio Art Gallery (SSAG) offers visitors a chance to buy unique gifts from the gallery’s Holiday Gift Shop. The shop is open between Nov. 25-Dec. 24. Fine craft makers can apply online line between Nov. 10-18, https://shibuistudio.com/call-for-crafts with fine handcrafted items like jewelry, pottery, greeting/note cards, woodworking, glasswork, candles, ornaments, stocking stuffers, stained glass, ceramics, journals and sketchbooks, and more.
