Wanted: At least 30 GHS seniors
April 6, 2022
The Partnership for Educational Excellence is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and hopes to award at least 30 tuition scholarships to graduating seniors in good standing.
The scholarships each offer $1,000 toward tuition at any accredited trade school, community college, college, or university. All that’s required of the student is a little paperwork: a personal essay and two pages of basic information. And each must submit three letters of recommendation from adults who knows them well.
The Partnership is not interested in GPA or class rank. In the past they’ve given scholarships to students in every quarter of a class. They don’t care about and don’t ask about need. They are looking for young people who have proven their motivation and who have strong life and career goals.
The Partnership has routinely awarded scholarships to 20 percent to a whopping 29 percent of each GHS graduating class. This year the senior class is about 85 students, so if 30 students apply, the education could break all records by awarding scholarships to more than 35 percent of the Class of 2022.
Please encourage all the Gillespie High School seniors you know who are continuing their educations to download an application or pick one up at the guidance counselor’s office at GHS. Deadline is Monday, April 18. Recipients will be announced at the GHS awards night on Wednesday, May 11.
