Lady Terriers place 3rd in State

Staunton 8th grade Lady Terriers had defeated Gillespie in two sets 25-13 and 25-11 to win their Sectional and advance to State.

The Lady Terriers won 3rd place at State last weekend. They played Friday and Saturday in Pana.

On Friday, March 17, the girls made a comeback to win an exciting match over Athens. After Athens had won the first match 25-19, the Terriers came back strong to win the next two 25-15 and 25-19. The Lady Terriers had 8 aces in the match led by Lacie Edwards with 3, Lydia Larosa and Ryenne Dugger with 2 ea., and Chloe Reynolds 1.

This win advanced the girls to play vs. Morris Saratoga on Saturday. Morris Saratoga defeated the Terrers in two sets of 25-20. Staunton aces were by Kadyn Legendre 4 and Kaliana Buehler 1. That match put the Terriers vs. Westville JHS to play for 3rd in State.

The 8th grade Terriers won their final match of the tournament at State in just two sets, 25-18 and 25-20 winning 3rd place in State for Staunton.


Staunton had 7 aces in the Westville match led by Ryenne Dugger with 4, Lacie Edwards, Chloe Reynolds and Kadyn Legendre each had one.

Stats showing aces for the entire tournament listed Dugger with 6, Legendre 5, Edwards with 4, Larosa and Reynolds 2 ea. and Buehler 1.
