Gladys Rose (Smith) Sauerwein, 85, of Bethalto, Ill., died at Evelyn's House in Creve Coeur, Mo., on Saturday, March 4, 2023. She was born July 4, 1937, in Bunker Hill Township to Robert James and Gladys Lillian (Moore) Smith.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Bunker Hill. Gladys enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, fishing, playing pinochle and playing free cell. She also enjoyed genealogy, puzzles and crocheting.

She is survived by her daughter, Carla (Jeff) Sauerwein of Alton; son, Edward (Diane) Sauerwein of Sedgwick, Kan.; grandchildren, Joshu...
