Edward O. Hormann Jr., 61, of Staunton, Ill., died at Community Hospital of Staunton on Friday, March 3, 2023. He was born June 10, 1961, in East St. Louis, and was a son of the late Edward Sr. and Mary (Way) Hormann. He married Elsie Marie Evans on May 23, 1983, in Yokosuka, Japan, and she survives.

He was employed as Department Manager at Rural King in Litchfield. He retired from Walmart. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Machinist Mate First Class (retired). He served aboard the USS Towers, USS Lynde McCormick, USS Camden, USS Midway, and USS Independence. Edward was an avid fisherman and a diehard St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He graduated from Livingston High School with the Class of 1980.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Hormann of Staunton; two children, Troy (Robin) Hormann, Diane Marie Whitlow; four grandchildren, Gage Whitlow, Lilyanna Whitlow, Kaylynn Whitlow, Conall Whitlow; three brothers, William Hormann, Lenny (Jennifer) Hormann, Warren (Stephanie) Hormann; two sisters, Barbara (Gerald) Meyer, Mary Hormann; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis Hormann and James Robert Hormann.

A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, March 7, at the Hormann residence in Staunton.
