The Macoupin County Basketball Tournament opened play in Bunker Hill on Monday, Jan. 16.

Boy's Division

The first round on Jan. 16 in the boy's division had Gillespie vs. Bunker Hill at 1:30 p.m.; Southwestern vs. Mt. Olive at 4:30 p.m. and Staunton vs. Carlinville at 7:30 p.m. North Mac had a first round bye and they will play the winner of the Gillespie/Bunker Hill game today, Jan. 18, at 7:30 p.m.

This is a double elimination tournament so there is a championship bracket and a consolation bracket. The championship game will be played on Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m. The third place game will be played at 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 20. The 5th place game is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Jan. 19.

Girls Division

Playing in the first round of the girls division will be North Mac vs. Mt. Olive at 12 noon on Jan. 16; Gillespie vs. Bunker Hill at 3 p.m. on Jan 16; and Carlinville vs. Southwestern at 6 p.m. on Jan 16.

Staunton girls have a first round bye so they will play the winner of the North Mac/Mt. Olive game at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 17. A win on Tuesday would put Staunton in the Championship game to be played at 6 p.m. on Jan. 20. The third place game is set for 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 19 and the 5th place game will be at 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 19.
