Adam David Thomason, 33, of Bethalto, Ill., died on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., from injuries received in a car accident. He was born Feb. 5, 1989, in Alton, the son of Rick and Carol (Hopper) Thomason. He married Kristen Goben on June 2, 2018, at New Hope Baptist Church in Worden, and she survives.

Adam was eagerly anticipating the birth of their baby boy who will be born approximately Feb. 10, 2023.

He was a 2007 graduate of Staunton High School and received an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix. Adam was employed as a TSA agent at Lambert International Airport in St. Louis. He previously worked for several security companies. He was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Raymond and was a former member of New Hope Baptist Church in Worden and Bethel Baptist Church in Staunton. Adam enjoyed taking day trips with Kristen; spending time with his brother and brothers-in-law; hanging out with his two dogs and two cats; and listening to music. Adam was proud to be an organ donor and seven lives will potentially be saved by his gift.


Survivors include his wife, Kristen Thomason of Bethalto; will include his son, Jonah David Thomason; mother, Carol (late Walter) Haase of Worden; father, Rick (Vicki) Thomason of Staunton; sister, Lindsey (Jeremy) Heigert of Litchfield; brother, Nathan Thomason of Worden; niece and nephews, Gretchen, Josiah, Gabe and Noah Heigert; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dianne and David Goben of Glenarm; and brother-in-law, Kurt Goben of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harvey and Eula Hopper of Worden; and paternal grandparents, Eldon and Ruby Thomason of Staunton.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton with Rev. John Heater officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the family for the care of Adam and Kristen's son. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield was in charge of arrangements.
