The Lady Bulldogs took second place out of the 16 teams that competed at Winterfest 2022 at Christ Our Rock Lutheran. The Staunton High School girls basketball team competed in the CORL (Christ Our Rock Lutheran) Winterfest Tournament in Centralia Dec. 27 to 30.
In the opening round, Staunton defeated Anna Jonesboro 58-17. They went on to defeat Johnston City 57-29 and Hamilton County 46-38.
The three wins put the Lady Bulldogs in the championship game vs. Father McGivney on Friday, Dec. 30, at 8 p.m. The Bulldogs with their 12-2 record met the Griffins with their 13-2 record and the close, hard-fought game that followed was the expected result.
