The Staunton High School girls basketball team were off to an impressive start on their 2022-23 season, opening with 7 wins in a row.

The Lady Bulldogs started on Nov. 14 with the 61-28 win over Northwestern. On Nov.15 they defeated Wesclin 65 - 31; defeated Mt. Olive 59-20 on Nov. 17; on Nov. 26 they defeated East Alton/Wood River 56-20; Dec. 1 defeated Litchfield 57-32 on Dec. 1; defeated Bunker Hill 53-21 on Dec. 2; and on Dec. 5 defeated Roxana 48-31. We have no individual stats on scoring.

The next game on the Lady Bulldogs schedule was at Pana on Dec. 8. The girls got their first loss of the season (77-79) in a hard fought double overtime.

Quarter and OT scores were:

Staunton 15 -3 -18 -23 -8 -10 =77

Pana 16 -20 -7 -16 -8 -12=79

The Staunton girls' will face South Fork Dec. 14; home vs. Porta/Ashland Dec. 17; home vs. Calhoun Dec. 19 and at Auburn on Dec. 22.
