Reinhard John Schuster,79, Staunton, Ill., died Thursday, Sept. 22, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo. He was born on July 16, 1943, in Romania, the son of the late Johann and Susanna (Klein) Schuster. He married LaVerne Ahne, and she survives.

He was employed as a Federal Special Agent U.S. Treasury and later became an investigator for the State of Illinois. He was a veteran. John had a passion for traveling, fishing, being out in nature, and bird watching. He was a history buff. John loved his family and talking on the phone frequently.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Schuster of Staunton; stepdaughter, Doris (Terry) Kipping of Waterloo; grandchildren, Greg (Heather) Kipping of Waterloo, Chris (Dave) Otten of Irvine, Calif., Melissa Huebner of South Roxana; several great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Franz Huber; nieces, Lydia (Rick) Johnson of Staunton, Ruth (Mike) Marzak of Lavelette, W.V .; nephews, Gordon (Kim) Gracey of Scottown, W.V., Dan (Stacey) Gracey of Hunington, W.V., Charles (Anita) Turnista of Newport News, W.V., Robert (Melissa) Turnista of Newport News, W.V., Franz (Helga) Huber II of Austria, Herbert Huber of Austria; and many great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Huber; in-laws, Maria and Steve Gracey, Laura and Charles Turnista; niece, Priscilla Gracey; and nephew, Tom Turnista.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Wednesday at 3 p.m. with Father Tom Hagstrom officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. Staunton Military Guard will conduct graveside military honors.
